“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” – R Buckminster Fuller
Barbell shrugged has changed our lives.
It’s incredible to consider. At the start, we had no idea where we’d go, what we’d do, or just how much we would grow. I think I speak for the entire team when I say, I am deeply grateful for this experience.
To everyone that has enjoyed our podcast over the years, thank you. By coming along for the ride you’ve made this change possible.
That’s all it ever was, a possibility. There were plenty of doubts, some fear and frustration all along the way. It’s never easy to share an honest point of view, at least not every single week for four years. But sharing something Good is all we ever wanted to achieve. Something crystal clear, funny and valuable.
We thought that was the kind of show that could get people thinking differently about strength. “It might change the world somehow. Who knows?” One discussion. One connected idea. One Wednesday at a time, from episode 1 to 199, we’ve shared.
For a long time, it wasn’t all that easy to look back, especially not to those early episodes. There’s so much I would have said differently, or not at all. But I’m also proud because Barbell Shrugged is a record of our change. Our experiences, our relationships, and the lessons we’ve lived along the way. At the very least, this show can serve as a guide for anyone who’s ready to begin a journey of their own.
Yes, I’m hugely proud of that.
As we look ahead now, it’s still very hard to know. I can’t say just where we’ll go, or what we’ll see and do. But what I do know is that we’ve got a brand new kind of model in mind. And a big, blue-sky view that we’re excited to share with you very soon.
Now, let the real show begin.
